Ok. Without this connection I often leave the arms and club behind during the downswing.Reposted Forum moveKeymasterMike4040 Aug 11, 2018
Hi Ross,
Are you located in the Las Vegas area? I thought I recognized the course your videos are from but that was Cherokee Ridge in Colorado Springs I was thinking of.
Do you still do any one on one lessons?

In your finishing posture, is your chest and belly always aiming to the target line even though it is a short distance shot less than 100yd? Is your wedge shot distance controlled by backswing arc?***I am not able to find “Finishing drill” which is mentioned in other few posts.

Thanks for your prompt reply! I am pretty confident following your method as I found this move is repeatable. The only thing that I am wondering about is whether the finishing posture should be same for any distance shot. I tend to stop my body rotation at around 1 o’clock to the target line usually when I shot for for the short distance within 100 yd. Do you think this should be fixed by rotating my body fully so my chest aiming to the target line?
Please advise the finishing posture related to the shot distance.

Ross,
I’ve been working hard to keep the front arm straight in the backswing and the payoff is like you say consistent solid shots. I shot a 39 on the Isleta Lakes course last week. Thanks!Reposted Forum moveKeymasterJason2010 Sep 16, 2018
Thanks for this clarification.I am just watching Jon Ram’s golf swing and noticing his wrist bowing out like dustin Jones in his top of backswing. I think he is trying to keep this wrist shape all the way through the impact position. Is this observation correct? And is this recommended as well in your method?

Starting with a small pitch shot has not been successful for me. Reason being is that I can hold my angles more easily with short swings even though my technique may be off. When I move to full swings I start to lose it. Recently, I think that I may have found what works for me to get the elbows down in front of the hips and keep my wrists fixed. I tried a different swing thought on my mat in my backyard and it looks good on video even on full swings. It feels like my swing speed is faster with less effort. I will send an update after I try it on the range or the course.Reposted Forum moveKeymasterJoerog Nov 10, 2018
Hi Anthony and RossI too haven’t got this down to the level I want but I think it is down to not following Ross’ guidance and working up from a slower pitching wedge chip shot. Patience is required on my part :-). I wish you were in the uk for lesson, Ross

Thanks RossReposted Forum moveKeymasterAnthony225 Jan 04, 2019
The reason I ask is because when I set up to the ball with arms under my shoulders there is an angle between my left forearm and the club. My hands are beneath my shoulders and the ball is further away. If I keep my left arm completely straight I would need to raise my wrists a little or stand a lot taller to set the club head behind the ball. To make by left arm completely straight would make the setup like Bryson which is not your method. So maybe the correct word is not hinge. So do you hold the slight angle described above throughout the swing?

Thanks Ross for reminding us not to try to copy your swing. Sometimes after a bad shot I say to myself, how does Ross’s swing look like , what position are his hands arms and feet in. ( I watched your swing frame by frame not realizing everybody will look different). Then on my next shot my thoughts are what did I do wrong instead of reminding myself on the things I should do. Having attended the Canadian Open a couple of weeks ago and seeing that these great players hit bad shots from good lies too sometimes gave me a better perspective on my own bad shots.
Again, thanks for pointing this out.Reposted Forum moveKeymasterDan Jul 16, 2019
Ross, it just dawned on me how to get a lower running shot with my 56deg.! You showed it to me. It’s the opposite of the shot that pops over a bunker. I just need to close the face slightly and put the face of the club on the ball to take my stance, right? It’ll come out lower and run a little bit. Sorry, I had a lapse of memory there. Thanks.Reposted Forum moveKeymasterDan Jul 16, 2019
Ross, Good that you’re doing well. Years ago you showed me the toss for “feel” and how to use a wedge around the green for most of my needs. So, typically I reach for my 56deg. and it serves me well. Now, I’ll put in some practice to learn how to keep the ball lower with that wedge or use a less lofted club to get the effect the feel of the shot seems to call for. Nadine says hi to you and Barb. -
