Jeff,
That’s something a good club fitter specializes in. If you choose to get a fitting, a fitter will look at your swing characteristics and match you with a shaft that they determine best suits you. It might help you hit the ball higher, lower, more consistently, and further.Reposted Forum moveKeymasterDaveF Jan 11, 2017
Thanks Ross. This really helps. My putting has been better than ever using your technique, but always room for improvement. The better I get, the more I want to practice of course.Reposted Forum moveKeymasterDaveF Jan 09, 2017
Thanks Ross. I’ve been placing the ball over my left eye vs. bridge of the nose, probably needs to be even more left?Reposted Forum moveKeymasterDaveF Feb 13, 2017
Very helpful Ross!
I am probably one of the last people to get this concept until recently. I thought I was keeping my weight left – I wasn’t. So my right knee was over active on the downswing and the chest was rotating WITH or “chasing” after the hips which were moving away from the chest at the same rate.
Now I think of the upper body and left hip as being pulled together with the left knee and “gathering” toward the left side (pillar) to impact position. Huge difference. Like opening & closing a door. Only before my “door” frame didn’t stay in place. Hard to close the door when the frame is moving.Reposted Forum moveKeymasterSparks Feb 19, 2017
Ross
On the backswing to get the club head at 45 degrees
(As shown in video) As the shoulder turns I have
To manipulate my hands (back of glove facing ground) to get that angle.
Do you have a video or exercise (or) comment on this topicReposted Forum moveKeymasterAnthony225 Mar 25, 2017
Ross,
Can you explain more about the back elbow leading on the downswing? Just curious because I hadn’t read or heard you mention that anywhere else.Reposted Forum moveKeymasterpullturn Apr 07, 2017
Thanks Ross. I had not thought about the lie angle. I will probably try it and then remember … Oh yeah …Reposted Forum moveKeymasterpeter Apr 11, 2017
sorry for my misquote.Just back from the range and happy to share the following :
using a lower tee and ball on big toe left foot (righthander) lowered the flight and gave best results in the wind.
thinking about keeping my left wrist flat made somehow my hands too active…. old habbits die hard, so I tried not to think too much about that during the swing.
Also I reduced the loft on my titleist 915D2 10.5 to 9.75. (good tip). Both actions resulted in a lower ball flight (still straight). Not so sure about extra roll.
Kind of counter intuitive, because bringing the ball closer to my lowpoint (sorry again my own vocabulary), should impart more backspin on the ball… more magnus effect ==> danger of climbing ball.
I will keep playing with those ideas for a while.

Thank you Ross for your clear explanation.I do not think I flip (however, I ‘ve learned there is a difference in what you think you are doing versus what you actually doing…)…
I use stiff flex and keep my left hand strong on the club.
I’ll experiment with “keep turning low to the left”… and keep you posted.

Peter

Sorry Ross, for this stupid question, but could you explain “pointing your thumbs towards each other (Thanks to Dave Pelz)”Do you mean pointing the thumbs to the ground and is it with or without the club?
Thank you!

I believe that I am ready to start preaching the DUPLESSIS gospel. Impressed with your knowledge and the speed of your response!
Thanks EncilReposted Forum moveKeymasterencil May 20, 2017
Ross, would I be correct in saying that you can’t swing faster than you rotate? I think that maybe my “flipping” is caused by my hands trying to add speed instead of letting them just go along for the ride.

Ross, being a retired educator and teacher trainer, I feel like I can somewhat detect good teaching and I greatly admire your passion and dedication. I must admit that in my 50 years of playing and studying our great game that I have been influenced more by Homer Kelley than perhaps anyone. Nicklaus is probably next .Kelley taught me the importance of impact and Nicklaus the wisdom that the secret to playing the game is knowing what YOU can do . I love what you teach about the hands . I’m 74 and shot better than my age for the first time when I was 66 . I still play the regular tees but I’m still looking for a better way and I think it involves the role of the hands. the great golf mind Jackie Burke said “Your hands can’t go faster than your body turns.” This thought has lead me in my endless search to your method-I’m trying to see if it works for me. As I said in my earlier post ,your method and S&T contain many Golfing Machine fundamentals .
