Thank you so much. I have started noticing improvements with commitment to passivity of arm, WRISTS and most importantly constant grip pressure now not as tight as I used to do. I didnt know I could keep it at4-5/10 till I faced this challenge. Another thing that is helping is keeping the arms FREE of the body@ chest wall. I didn’t know I was still embracing the pressure on the peds and occassionally the armpit till I went back to Ross drills to explore reasons for my flaws. When the arms are free the swing and PASSIVITY becomes easier and of course better results. I appreciate you for your concern. Confidence getting restored.

Hello Femgolf1. What helped me most recently were a couple things. One was to make sure I wasn’t lifting my arms in the backswing. Its hard to see sometimes. In a good backswing, the lifting that appears to happen is when the back elbow runs out of room from the shoulders turning. Lifting intentionally causes problems. The second thing is I improved my finish. Key for me is to not let the wrists go out towards the target after impact. I now feel that my wrists are in the same position at the end of the swing on shorter shots (relative to my belly button). So my elbows are facing kinda of down towards my hips and wrist unchanged at the end of the swing. The wrists and elbows turn with the body to the finish. At the end my right palm is facing left of the target. That little turn at the end (elbows and wrist template) delivers power to the ball. Another feel I use sometimes is to feel that my left elbow is facing down (or facing my left hip after impact) as the template turns with the body to the finish (Ross mentions this briefly in one of the elbows squeeze videos). This helps keep the arms and club from flying away from the body and being out of synch with my turn. From this my distance improved a lot and I now don’t have to turn as hard as I used to for good iron distance. Lastly, make sure 60% weight stays on front leg. Big distance loss if too much weight is on back foot at impact. If I mistakingly use my arms in the downswing it tends to require me to have more backfoot weight to keep balance. You can get away with this sometimes with driver (not consistently) but not with irons!

Thank you my very committed virtual teacher. I was on the range today and I discovered I was too stiff or rigid attempting to keep the TEMPLATE intact and so eliminating GRAVITY. I decided from reading some inputs from the forum that when the SHOULDERS alone are carrying the TEMPLATE it must be HEAVY. This allows passivity in the swing and helped a lot. Reasonably firm grip with SHOULDERS alone carrying the TEMPLATE and so HEAVY and ROTATING through without engaging the hands in the DOWNSWING. I will continue to work on this. My experience today was pleasant. Thanks a million.

I also grip firm putting reasonable pressure on the left thumb enough to keep the WRISTS fixed as well as TEMPLATE intact. If I dont grip firm the WRISTS want to smuggle itself into the swing. Is this right or I am indirectly compromising/ cocking the SHOULDERS TURN. Maybe one of the things I am doing wrong.?

Thank you so very much for your response. I am sooo happy with this assurance. It makes the backswing so easy and the ROTATION through in the DOWNSWING a delight. I am sooo happy. Sometimes when yo do the right things and it makes golf a bit easy you think you are compromising!!!. The hanging makes the control of the grip pressure easier too. I am improving and I give you the credit Ross.

Your method is working perfectly for me. Most interesting is that it is repeatable. Once you internalize the key instructions the results are the same. My fairway woods that was nightmarish are now a delight. If miss a short you quickly know what you’ve done wrongly. I am a loyal disciple because your method is trust worthy. I will practice a bit more relaxed right arm and more SHOULDER on the backswing and get back to you. Thanks

I kind of use the right elbow or arm to brace the left as I pinch them on the backswing MENTALLY and consciously keeping them both straight through the backswing. As soon as the SHOULDER TURN is done I begin the ROTATION through in the DOWNSWING. Anytime I experience a bent right elbow I encounter problems with my DOWNSWING. Is this right or I should always allow for the right elbow bend?

Thanks Ross – it’s literally moving less. Sometimes I forget and try to make it more complicated.
On another note – I hear the positive comment when I pitch around the green; the short lob shot; and putting. Thanks for teaching me your method an approach to the game! Even if I’m a lefty ?

I do not understand this ” door jamb” drill. Is it possible to have a picture or video of it. Its been helpful to so many except me. I desire to share this wonderful experience. Please help me with a video recording. Thank you.

Wow, what an awesome drill Ross. Do you also find that it makes the hands passive automatically? Great drill. Thank you,

OMG!!! Many thanks for taking all the time to explain all of these. I am fulfilled. I will keep working. I am on the right path. I just need to hold ,TURN and ROTATE maintaining the RADIUS from the left shoulder to the clubhead. And the ROTATION through must be finished balanced. This working for me at the moment.

Dear Sir. What is your personal grip pressure with all clubs? I want to train to do everything like you. In your various writings you have said it depends individual. Yes I grip very firm. You even recommend firm because the club wants to flip. But what to know your that I may train with it and master it as the ideal coming from my teacher. Smiles
    Thanks

Thanks, my playing partners informed me that I was flipping my right hand at the range yesterday. That’s because I setup with a flat right wrist initially. Going back to range and also playing 9 holes today. Will keep me right wrist bend in at setup.

Hi Ross just wanted to let you know your advice worked, for me it was not taking an athletic setup, I’ve been doing the stop and turn drill every morning, 20-30 balls and will even do that on the course. 6/7 fairways hit and 6/9 GIR, big improvement! Thanks for your advice!

Thanks Ross, I’ll get to work on both those things, appreciate it!
