Hi Ross,My left arm seems bending a little in backswing due to lack of flexibility of my body. How important in your method is this left arm straightening in backswing?
If I intentionally do straighten my left arm in backswing through impact position, my shoulder seems turning only 45 degree and my upper body seems resisting in which my upper body muscle feels very tightening with lot of tension. Is this right feel if my upper body gets tension in backswing?

Many golfers don’t keep their left (front) arm straight on the backswing and hit the ball great. It is a repeatability issue. Some can bend the front arm a bit on the backswing and get it back to straight by impact and have no problems.Yes there is tension in the backswing if done correctly. The shoulders turn around the spine and windup the back muscles. This should not affect the front arm being straight. Plus, the backswing should not be very long. It ends when the shoulders can’t turn any more. Jon Rahm is a great example of this.

Thanks for this clarification.I am just watching Jon Ram’s golf swing and noticing his wrist bowing out like dustin Jones in his top of backswing. I think he is trying to keep this wrist shape all the way through the impact position. Is this observation correct? And is this recommended as well in your method?

Ross,
I’ve been working hard to keep the front arm straight in the backswing and the payoff is like you say consistent solid shots. I shot a 39 on the Isleta Lakes course last week. Thanks!November 10, 2022 at 5:13 pm #12321

That’s great Dan. I know that the feeling of improvement while you play is also part of the payoff. Golf is the hardest game. -
